I have worked in this role with Newbarn for 8 ½ years, since in September 2006. The role of service lead is a diverse one – it includes supporting our tenants with their daily support needs, managing a fantastic team of dedicated and skilled staff and attending many local forums to both promote the service and to keep up to date with all the changes that are happening locally and nationally.
I am a qualified Social Worker and have worked with Newbarn for 4 and a half years in the role of Project Lead. As a student Social Worker, I volunteered with Newbarn in the summer of 2011 and loved the values and ethos of the organisation.
My day to day role involves managing a specialist staff team who support people with dual diagnoses of mental health and learning disability.
I am qualified at level 3 Counselling Skills and I am now in my second year of an MSc in Leadership in Health and Social Care. I am soon to complete my ASYE (Assessed and Supported Year in Employment for Social Workers)
I have been at Newbarn for over 6 years now, initially to help with marketing the company; nowadays I deal with the running of the office, including making sure we have all we need to keep the office running. I also maintain and train people on the IT and office systems including photocopiers, printers, mobile phones and computers. I manage the various properties we use, liaising with Landlords and our excellent Maintenance Team all to help to make sure our Tenants are happy in their homes.
I recently completed my Diploma in Management & Leadership.
Hello..! I have a varied background with many different life experiences. I am an ex-professional boxer and I currently also coach boxing in Littleborough in my spare time. I love working with our tenants as it leaves you with an enormous sense of well being.
I have started training again and look forward to an increase in my fitness and have recently taken part in Bereavement Counselling training which has been both eye-opening and I have learned a lot about both myself and the course.
